Many sections were filmed on location and features several true life insights into the operation of tea plantations and the tea-making process within factories. It also looks at native ceremonies and beliefs. Most of the story centers upon the Elephant Walk Bungalow and the production of Elephant Walk Tea. Beautiful cinematography by Loyal Griggs and dramatic, with a memorable elephant stampede. In January 1953, Leigh traveled to Ceylon to film Elephant Walk. Shortly after filming commenced, she had a nervous breakdown and Paramount Pictures replaced her with Elizabeth Taylor. She can still be seen in certain long shots in the final picture.
